Let’s Get Real About Strikes

It’s time the public knows the undeniable motivation behind strikes.

Professor Terry Moe is the most respected name in education reform today, serves as the Chairman of Stanford University’s Department of Political Science. Additionally he is the William Bennett Monroe Professor of Political Science at Stanford University and senior fellow at the Hoover Institution.

In his 2011 landmark study of teacher unions, he said,

“Teachers unions are by far the most powerful factor in American education.  They shape the schools from the bottom up through collective bargaining. They shape the schools down through political power.   As long as teacher unions are powerful, we will never have effective schools in this country. The only solution is to reduce union power.”

Jason Riley of the Wall Street Journal, echoes Professor Moe’s sentiments in his recent article about teacher union officials.
