Classes Cancelled Due to PAPEA Teacher Union Strike
Port Angeles Paraeducator Association (PAPEA) has launched a strike in response to the Port Angeles School District refusing to give in to their demands for wage increases. The school district argues that meeting 100% of the union’s demands is unsustainable due to the fact that student enrollment has been on the decline and the state currently does not provide enough funding. For educators affected by the strike, it’s important for them to know that regardless of union boss demands, they have a right to continue to work and provide classroom instruction during this time.
