CEAFU Lunch Break with guest Kali Fontanilla

Kali serves as a Capital Research Center Senior fellow, particularly focusing on topics related to K-12 public education.

In a recent blog article, “President of Teachers Union Tries to Rewrite History . . . and Fails”, Kali Fontanilla highlighted an X (formerly Twitter) post by Randi Weingarten.

The American Federation of Teachers (AFT) union president, Weingarten’s post expressed that “In-person learning is where kids do best, which is why educators & their unions worked hard to reopen US schools for safe in-person learning beginning back in April 2020 and why we’ve spent the last several years following the pandemic prioritizing public schooling & investing in #RealSolutionsForKids that help them recover & thrive.”

Kali inquired: “Is she [Weingarten] deluded or straight-up lying?” about the nationwide school shutdowns promoted by Weingarten.

Kali suggests, “Maybe she is banking off the fact that America seems to easily forgive and forget once time has passed. But the detrimental effects of the shutdowns on a whole generation’s educational progress certainly lives on, and the key role teachers unions played in both shutting down in-person learning and keeping schools closed during the COVID pandemic is historical fact, no matter what Weingarten tweets.”

We believed it would be intriguing to inquire with an expert such as Kali if national teacher union presidents like Weingarten are alienating teachers. If that is the case, the team at Concern Educators Against Forced Unionism (CEAFU.org) is well aware of several teachers’ organizations that are eager to assist instructors in their primary objective of educating students and thereby enabling them to flourish in the real world.

Kali will participate in our discussion to provide answers regarding Big Ed and its impact on education and teaching profession. She will be available to answer your questions as well.
