Rauner “Destroying” Us
Illinois teacher union official Matthew Johansson is accusing Governor Rauner of destroying unions with his executive order issued last Monday, freeing teachers and other state employees from having to pay forced dues. Matthew Nordin and Jay Roberts have the story on WSIL TV online.
Teachers would be able to opt out of their union under a proposal in Gov. Bruce Rauner’s first State of the State Address Wednesday.
He referred to it as “empowerment.” . . . Local education union leader Matthew Johansson wasn’t impressed
Johansson says he’s not opposing Rauner because the governor is a Republican. He points out his local teachers’ union endorsed Rep. Terri Bryant (R-Murphysboro) in her successful run for office last fall and endorsed the previous Murphysboro Republican who held that seat, Mike Bost, when he was a state legislator. But Johansson thinks Rauner is going too far.
