Union Staff Pickets Employer
Union staff members who picket their union employer at NEA’s annual convention. Mike Antonucci has the story in Intercepts.
A note: for the first time in 19 years, Mike has not met the requirements for a press pass to the convention, but continues to report off site.
Employees of the California Teachers Association have been negotiating for months with CTA managers to agree on a new contract, but talks have been contentious. A major sticking point is pension funding.
The staff union organized protests at various CTA events, including a State Council meeting earlier this month.
Now a handful of CTA employees will set up an informational picket line at the entrance to the NEA Representative Assembly hall in Boston next week in an effort to pressure CTA officers to settle their contract.
