Longview School Board Considers Action Against Illegal Strike
Strikes are illegal in Washington state although there are no penalties for them. The Longview school Board is considering action against the illegal strike plaguing the district. Joe English has the story on KATU news.
While picketing teachers lined sidewalks and crowded street corners trying to get support for a pay raise, the Longview School Board held a special session Friday to give the school superintendent the power to take action to deal with the strike if needed.
“What it does is allow the superintendent to go ahead and hire a law firm if he so chooses, and look into if we want to sue or not sue,” said district spokesperson Rick Parrish. “It doesn’t directly say we will or won’t do anything.”
