DC Charter School Hopes to Affiliate with American Federation of Teachers

For all of teacher union officials’ railing against charter schools, it seems they aren’t such a bad deal as long as they want to become unionized by the American Federation of Teachers.   Who could trust union officials who publicly come out in opposition to, and work against political supporters of, charter schools?   Apparently these charter school employees are in ignorance or don’t care.   Perry Stein has the story in washingtonpost.com.

If successful, Mundo Verde Bilingual Public Charter School would be the only unionized charter campus at the start of the next school year. Teachers at Chavez Prep Middle — a campus that is part of the D.C. Cesar Chavez charter network — are unionized, but that school is expected to close this summer.
