Teaching Grandmother Takes on California Education Association

Christina Laster is well-qualified to speak on the California charter school situation.   She currently serves as the Inland Empire & San Diego Parent Union President for the California Policy Center, a  parent/grandparent in Southern California. Laster is also the Education Chairwoman for the Southwest Riverside County chapter of the NAACP, but her opinion above is not an official representation of the NAACP or its views.  She writes in the Press-Enterprise.

. . . I worked for 13 years as an educator within the San Diego Unified School District, teaching early childhood education and special education. When I realized that our students, including my own children, were suffering terribly to no avail, I resigned and sought other options. I was able to find a free, quality public charter school for my own children, which supported three different learning modalities.
