Teacher Union Power Play Blocks Education Secretary Again

A massive power play by San Diego teacher officials show them as the schoolyard and school board bullies they are.  Apparently their power to act is tied up with teacher union officials’ agenda in such a way that even the fate of an invitation to the Secretary of Education lies in their hands.  The San Diego school board, under pressure from teacher union officials, have reneged on an invitation to Secretary of Education Betsy DeVos.   Maureen Magee has the story in the San Diego Tribune Online.

It was to be a symbolic, if not political gesture that ultimately fell flat.

The labor-friendly San Diego school board had planned to consider issuing an invitation to U.S. Secretary Betsy DeVos at its public meeting Tuesday, but the proposed resolution was withdrawn with an apology Monday amid complaints from the teachers union.
