If You Want It, Come and Get It
An old song once invited, “if you want it, here it is. Come and get it. Make your mind up fast. If you want it, here it is, come and get it but you’d better hurry cos it’s going fast.” I believe the song was about money. In any case, teacher union members who deplore the lack of an adequate salary should look to the top officials in their unions for money. The issue is almost laughable as Randi Weingarten whines, “It’s not fair that we have to live paycheck to paycheck.” – Randi Weingarten, American Federation of Teachers president, annual salary $472,197
Mike Antonucci has the story in the 74million.org.
Income inequality is a contentious policy issue, and labor unions are at the forefront of the debate, professing themselves champions of the working class against the predations of the one-percenters.
But doing good also helps the top officers of those unions to do very well — so much so that they themselves have entered into the realm of the ultra-wealthy.
